This year, we will be producing a more intimate holiday performance that weaves together dance, live music, and storytelling. Based on “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” by Dylan Thomas, this performance will be a beautiful way to celebrate holiday cheer in a way that promotes community and creativity.
Friday, Dec. 21, 7pm
Saturday, Dec. 22, 7pm
Sunday, Dec. 23, 2pm
Performances will be at BSD. We will be transforming the studio into a beautiful performance space that inspires feelings of warmth and intimacy.
Saturday, Sept. 22, 2pm: Children ages 5-10
Saturday, Sept. 22, 2:45pm: Youth/Teens/Adults ages 11 +
Saturday, Sept. 22, 4pm: If you have a musical talent or would like a speaking role.
Please arrive early and warm!
Please note: Participation in this performance is not mandatory. Performing is an excellent way to gain skills in performing, memory retention, working together for a common goal, and overall professionalism in dance and theater. We highly encourage this experience, but please know it is not a requirement!
Adults & Children are equally encouraged to audition! There will be parts for all skill levels!
What to expect at the audition:
For Children ages 5-10 & Youth/Teens/Adults ages 11 +:
Wear whatever dance garb you wear for class. There will be a form for you to fill out – please arrive with a comprehensive list of all weekend conflicts from now until Christmas. We will lead you in a short warmup and then teach a couple short combinations. Then dancers will do the combinations in groups while we watch. No need to prepare anything ahead of time. For those who would like to audition en pointe, bring your shoes into the room and we will have a short pointe phrase at the end.
For those who wish to demonstrate a musical talent: Please come prepared with a short section of a song. We will not have accompaniment provided.
If you would like a speaking role: We will have you read from a section of the book. No need to prepare a monologue.
