Brattleboro School of Dance has been granted special funds for tuition scholarships for new students.  Company of Muses has set aside funds specifically for new students with an interest in dance who have financial need.  Spring Semester scholarship applications are due January 2nd, but these funds will be available on a rolling basis until the grant is depleted.  If you are or have a new student in your family who is interested in dancing but you thought you couldn’t afford it, please download the application here and submit it with financial documentation to Brattleboro School of Dance, 22 High Street, Suite 302, Brattleboro, Vermont 05301.

Our Winter Holiday Vacation begins Monday, December 19th, and runs through January 1st!

Due to the winter weather, all classes at Brattleboro School of Dance will be cancelled on Monday, December 12th. As a reminder, our snow day policy is to close when the Brattleboro public schools are closed and to count the missed class as an absence for all students that they may make-up before the end of the semester. Make-ups are transferable to immediate family members. If we have multiple snow days on the same week day within the same semester, we may schedule make-up classes during the February break or the April break. Stay safe and warm and enjoy the day off.

BSD Dance Company presents, “IMPETUS,”  a dance performance featuring classical excerpts from the Nutcracker, as well as original works of modern and contemporary dance. This performance will include choreography by company members and BSD faculty including Marion Major, Mucuy Bolles, Anna Bowler, Aria Roach, Sophia Marx, and company director Rachel Hebert.

The performance will take place Saturday, December 10th at 6:00pm, and Sunday, December 11th at 2:00pm at SoBo Studio, at 74 Cotton Mill Hill in Brattleboro. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.

Company of Muses is holding a Silent Auction to raise dance scholarship funds for students in need. All items up for auction can be seen and bid on at the Hooker-Dunham Gallery, 139 Main St of downtown Brattleboro, during the upcoming Gallery Walk from 5:30 – 8:30pm on December 2nd. The auction will be ending at 8:30pm, so don’t miss out on this amazing selection of items! The original oil painting by Jim McGrath pictured at left is just one of the items on auction. BSD will also be hosting a free holiday dance performance by the Junior and Senior dance companies at 7:30pm, in the Hooker-Dunham Theater!

Saturday, November 26th from 10am-12pm, Mucuy Bolles is holding her Advanced Intermediate Ballet class as a drop-in class.  Because it’s not part of the fall semester, this will be a pay at the door class.

Our Thanksgiving Break will be from Tuesday, 11/22 through Sunday, 11/27!
There will be no scheduled classes during the break, with the exception of:

11/22 Tuesday 5:30pm – Embodyoga/Pilates
11/23 Wednesday 7:30am – Multi-Level Pilates (Thursday Make-up)
11/23 Wednesday 9:00am – Multi-Level Pilates (Thursday Make-up)

Our Monday classes on 11/21 will be happening as normal.

All classes on Monday, October 31st have been cancelled for Halloween.  These classes have been rescheduled for their regular times on a different day of the week – Tuesday, December 20th – which is over the winter holiday class break.  Please enjoy a safe and fun-filled Halloween!

The Hip Hop Legends, The Wonder Twins are coming back to do a workshop, followed by a benefit concert for the Southern Vermont Dance Festival. Billy and Bobby McClain have had a wonderful career sharing the stage with many Hip Hop icons. They have created their own unique style and are bringing it to Brattleboro to share with us!
Saturday, 9/24, The Wonder Twins will do a two hour Hip Hop and Street Dance Workshop with ONLY 30 spots available from 2pm to 4pm. At 7:30pm, they will perform at the Latchis Theater.
